Alexander Stepanov retired in January 2016. I teamed up with one of his colleagues to design a commemorative stamp to celebrate his career achievements and mark his retirement. Stepanov's portrait was converted to an etch style. Then elements that influence his life and work were added to create an interesting composition.

Alexander Stepanov is the primary designer and implementer of the C++ Standard Template Library (STL). He is regarded as a pioneering software designer who took Stroustrup's programming language C++ and made it usable by developing the STL.
